Falsies Round 2!

Hi hi hi!
Hope everyone is well :) If you didn't know, I reply to all comments now (on my blog) so if you leave a comment, come back to see my reply! I also changed my font size because sometimes I have to strain my already horrible eyesight to read my own blog.

So as I've said before, I really wanted to try false lashes and I finally did thanks to my friend. But my hunt for false lashes did not stop there, I bought two other ones from my local beauty supply store. Today I'm going to share one of them, and in short: it was okay but nothing great. I haven't tried the other one yet but I can already tell I'll like it more.

The brand is called Darkness and it's a Korean brand. They're pretty famous for their "double eyelid" glue (the white one) but I've never really heard of their lashes before. I was pretty excited because one box contained two pairs (at about the same price) and it looked pretty fancy (there are small lashes criss-crossing and the top). In the store I couldn't tell that they looked a bit different but I realized what the difference was when I got home.

The difference is the size. I'm thinking maybe I was supposed to cut the lashes to use them almost like individual lashes but I just don't think it'd look the same all butchered up.

^Really pretty though, huh? It's like the long ones are the top layer and the smaller/thinner lashes are below it. The ends look pretty long but it doesn't look too long when they're on my eyes.

Let me further explain. When I bought these lashes, I expected them to cover the length of my entire eye. The MUFE one I tried last time definitely did and the other pair I bought also will fit.

^The one on the bottom is the MUFE one and the one on top is Darkness. The MUFE one is sort of curved towards the right but it's still longer than the one from Darkness. I did not realize this in the store lol. I guess it's because I'm still new to false lashes and I wasn't that familiar with what the size is supposed to look like. When I applied it, it covered 2/3 of my eyes. I thought it'd look really funny but it didn't. In fact, in pictures you can't really tell... I think.

I also did not know it came with glue! In comes with really cute looking glue too!

^Underneath the box, there are instructions in Korean and two adhesives. Step #2, says to cut the lashes to my desire. I don't have a problem with the actual lashes, I have a problem with the length in itself.

^I thought the adhesives were really cute. They're really small! The one in the white is a "weaker" glue (regular, I would say) while the yellow one is a "stronger" glue (extra strength, I would say). I haven't used either because I have my DUO lash adhesive. Too cute to use :p

^As you can see, it doesn't look too extravagant. Not trying to fish for compliments but you can also see that I look weird when I try to smile and that I'm pretty pale T_T I seriously think I have the most awkward looking smile even when I'm not trying to be awkward :'( I consider it one of my flaws. P.S.: Cherry Jolly Ranchers lollipops ftw. Whooooo partially red lips.

^Natural light - but when I lower my eyes like this, you can tell that those are definitely not my own lashes lol.

Do you think I should just cut the lashes and use them as individual lashes instead?

Review: Memoirs of a Kitty Palette

Hello! Hope everyone is well.
Today I want to do a brief review on the Memoirs of a Kitty palette. It isn't sold in Sephora anymore... I think (same idea here though). But it was $36 and I purchased mine back some time in July. I've used it for quite some time now so I think I can give a more accurate review now.

No matter how many times I look at it, I think it's so cute. I love the floral/pastel look of it and somehow I think "Memoirs of a Kitty" matches the palette very well. It also has a big mirror inside which I love.

Here's my general take on the Hello Kitty products sold at Sephora (then and now): The products are generally not that SUPER (compared to NARS/Too Faced/Urban Decay) but the packaging for Hello Kitty products are adorable. So is this palette worth $35? Maybe, maybe not. I personally would say yes because a) it comes with 4 eye shadows and 2 blushes. That's under $6 per product. The blushes come in a great size as well. And b) the packaging is adorable. I'm sorry but it is!

^This is the cover. Even the box this came with has the same design!

^I thought the bow was extra pretty. Sort of 3D!

^Contents.

The palette is divided into two levels. The first level contains the eye shadows, the second level contains the blushes.

^Level 1. I personally picked this palette because I can never have enough neutrals. #1 is a lovely highlight color, by the way. There definitely is fall out but nothing too excessive. #4 has the worst fall out but I've seen worse.

^Level 2. These are the blushes are these are still my FAVORITE blushes to date. I thought I would like #5 more (it's more peachy and less obvious) but it turned out that #6 looked better on me. I wear both of them though, I wear #6 first and I sort of blend everything out with #5.

^Swatches! It's a pretty frosty for the shadows and a bit shimmery (nothing too intense though) for the blushes.

No, these do not offer the highest of quality eye shadows. Yes, there are cheaper dupes of these colors. There is fall out and the blushes are better than the shadows in my opinion. But it is still good quality overall (and it is Hello Kitty) which should be noted. Would I buy one of these palettes again? I'm really not sure. For $35 I expect a teeny bit more from the eye shadows but if the blushes are the same quality and the eye shadows are colors I can work with, then why not? I believe Sephora is selling something similar right now but I'm not sure if I can work with all the eye shadows.

In short: 3.7/5

Here is a problem I had with all of the Hello Kitty products (or the ones I've come across, anyway). The shadows/blushes come in various colors but they don't have names! I wish they'd have names. Then I wouldn't have to number them from 1-6. Hah!

Are YOU a sucker for cute packaging? Confess!

MUFE False Lashes! & FOTD

Hey hey hey!
So my giveaway is ending in ~8 hours. It's now 11:59PM and it has officially closed! This is very exciting for me :)

I'm going to have to modify the rules a little.
a) I've decided to include everyone who partially participated (as in, they did not follow all the rules but did follow some of them). I did this because this is my first giveaway and I didn't want to leave anyone out who took the time to join in the first place. But next time, I don't think I'll be doing this.
b) I might have to make the second place winner a random winner as well - simply because of time constraints.
c) Not really a modification but the winners will be announced by January 18th so be sure to check back and see if you won!

Onto my first pair of falsies!

So I mentioned that I wanted to try false lashes. Believe it or not, the very next day I wrote that post, I met my super close friend. She gave me a belated Christmas gift from Sephora and it was a) a gift card b) Make Up For Ever False Eyelashes (#156 Genevieve), c) A DUO lash glue (dark tone).

I once mentioned that I wanted to try falsies one day during a random conversation and she remembered! So sweet of her, she always makes fun of me but inside I think she's madly in love with me HAHA.

The box with the gift card came with two slots. The slot on the left had the gift card and the right had a mirror! On the back she wrote:

To: Jane
From: Your butt

I always knew she loved me.

Onto the falsies!

^She threw in some samples as well. The Hello Kitty thing is a brown eyeliner!

The sales associate told her that there was no adhesive that comes with the lashes (even though clearly, there is a bottle). That's why she got me the DUO glue as well, in her words, "I couldn't get you lashes but no glue for them". These lashes are $15! I would never buy this with my own money but I'd probably always want them. They're a lot more fancier than I would have normally liked, especially the outer sides of the lashes but it doesn't look as dramatic when on. Um, I think so anyway. Besides, I love them so much more because my friend took the time to think this out for me!

A few close ups of the lashes!

^Inner

^Outer

As you can see, they're full blown lashes with some crosses between the lashes at the top. It's shorter on the inner side and longer on the outer. I tried them on today. It was weird trying them on by myself (I tried them once for a recital before but an actual makeup artist put them on for me). I was kind of scared and my face was only a few centimeters away from my mirror LOL. Due to my excitement/nervousness, I don't think I applied it TOO well but I was satisfied with what I got.

^Flash.

^No flash. Sorry for the stern look LOL.

Overall, I'm very pleased with it. I feel bad that they're $15 though. Wow oh wow. But at least they're reusable! Probably going to wear these forever.

That's it for today :)

False lashes for you personally, yay or nay?

Smashbox - Masquerade and Reign Lip Glosses

Hello, all!
Just a reminder that my one-year giveaway ends in THREE days!!! It will end 11:59PM EST.

Today's post will be about two lip glosses I have come to use somewhat recently although I've had them for a while. They are both from Smashbox and they are both limited edition. The first one is from the "Masquerade" line and the second one is from the "Reign" line. The Masquerade lip gloss is still sold on their website (it's on sale, too!). I have it in the shade "disguise". The Reign lip gloss is no longer sold on their website and it is older than the Masquerade line if I am correct. I have this in the shade "crowned". You can get this on amazon at a good price!

As I've said before, I am not a lip stick person (yet). I don't think I'm ready for it yet so I'm mostly a lip gloss or lip balm/stain person. Overall, I think both are great lip glosses and the price is pretty fair.

I hate to admit it but I really am a sucker for cute packaging. And I love products even more if the actual product is good as well. At first, the packaging is what made me pick up the Reign lip gloss. It was very cute!

I like the little charm at the top of the tube and it has a 'royal' theme to it. The shade was appealing because it was somewhat pinky-peachy (when applied) and a little orange too (swatched). It also does not have chunks of glitter in it (it has some glitter but nothing too noticeable or crazy) and I feel that it is appropriate for daily use.

In terms of stickiness - yes it is a bit sticky. But not as sticky as other lip glosses I've tried (in particular Tokidoki's Prisma lip gloss) and the color is quite true to bottle. I dislike anything that looks too overwhelming but I think this lip gloss is suitable for all lips! And I think a pinky-peachy is appropriate for all people as it looks quite natural. It also smells good! Taste - not so much lol.

On the other hand, Masquerade is pretty glittery. There are some flecks of gold glitters so it may or may not be appropriate for daily use (depends on what you consider too glittery) but I think it's okay for daily use as well. My friend (who is a lipstick addict) told me that this is great to put on top of lipstick as well.

Masquerade is a little bit darker than my usual liking but that's okay because it's not too dark. What I like is that it's not sticky. Seriously, super sticky lip glosses are not flattering and they're hard to deal with if you leave your hair down. I also like that this "just enough" for when you want your overall face to stand out. It's definitely pinkish when swatched/in the bottle but on my lips I feel like the color doesn't show as much. It's probably my own lip color though!

One thing I don't like, however, is the smell. Compared to Reign, I feel like Masquerade doesn't smell so great but it doesn't really taste like anything. The smell does go away after a while... or maybe I just got used to it.

Bare lips:

Masquerade (Disguise):

Reign (Crowned):

In short: Both are 3.7/5 - I'm pleased with both.

So, are you a lipstick or lip gloss person? Recommend me your favorite of either or both!

Recent buys, FOTD, Updates

Hello hello hello! :) Hope everyone has been doing well!

A quick reminder that my one-year giveaway ends in SIX days. The month goes by so quickly, it's kind of scary. Make sure you have followed ALL of the rules. Go back and make sure you filled out all the mandatory fields!

I put up a new banner and my blog has a different color to it now. I know it looks so simple but it actually took a lot of time LOL. I don't know how some bloggers do it, with their fancy fancy fancy blogs! Totally envious, I'm pretty sure this is the best I got for now. I also changed my blog title to "sweetness of each day" because I want all of my days and yours to be filled with sweetness. I hope that my blog entries will be able to capture the sweetness of each of my days.

Enough of the sappy stuff LOL and onto the small haul. So as I stated in this post, I have been on a shopping ban for ~2 months. I was not able to not buy ANYTHING but I did not buy anything for myself that was over $20. In fact, I think the only thing I bought for myself that was ~$20 was the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Policy palette. So I didn't go cold turkey but I definitely was not spending $150 at Sephora! I'm really surprised at how well I did... really surprised.

Oh boo, this haul is boring :( And by "small", I meant really small.

Oh hello, horrid lighting not nice to see you again
I got this little bucket at Target for $1 :) It's about 4inches tall (without the handle) and I intend of keeping my brushes in it. The handle is a little crooked but all of them were kind of like that and I don't really mind.

Hello Kitty nail art stickers *HAPPY*. I'm going to do a NOTD soon using one of these. I think I'm going to use the lace stickers for nail tips but we'll see. These were $5 (EEEEEP) at Sephora. Goodness, really expensive for a small sheet of stickers. Why did I let myself do this?! But it's so cute... :( No more of these though. Hello Kitty ANYTHING is so expensive.

Lace eye mask from Target. Also $1. Not the best quality but it's good enough for me. Mostly because it's black and it's light. Because the quality isn't so great, the stretchy band thing isn't too tight, rather loose which I'll enjoy more.

On a random note, there is something new I want to try: Something like these...

Just kidding! But these are pretty crazy, huh? The one on the bottom is by Shu Umura (sp?) and I'm not sure about the top one. Neither are mine, credits to appropriate owners!
I want false lashes that are exactly opposite of the ones I showed, natural looking ones!
Some people argue that false lashes are the most fake things a woman can do to her face. Do you agree?

I also want to share a quick FOTD. I wish I would remember to actually sit down and take these, they never come out the way I want them to... although I don't think my real face justifies the picture at all LOL.

I had my hair pulled back into a messy bun hence... the bald looking head. But today, I liked my scarf and the way my eyeliner turned out.

I'm going to end this entry with...

AHH! 붕어빵! This is a Korean pastry that is in the shape of a goldfish and filled with red bean. It's sweet and fattening, all the things I love.

P.S. :I hate "disqus" or whatever the heck it's called. Why do so many of you guys use it :(

Too Faced 'Lashlight' Mascara & Award!

[Don't forget to enter my one-year giveaway!]

Hello, all! A super hello (lol) to my newer followers!

Today's post will be jam packed so keep reading! I will try to keep text limited. *looks at finished post* just kidding, text will not be too limited. I tried though... LOL.

I was gifted the Too Faced 'Lashlight' Mascara (a big thank you to my friend 'E' who probably won't ever read this LOL) so I decided I'd review it and show you guys! I don't see too many people reviewing this so I hope you guys don't mind. You can get this product here.

Why is this mascara so unique? Because it LIGHTS up! Yes, it has LED LIGHTS! I thought that was exciting enough to be in caps, sorry LOL. I'm still new to Too Faced as this is only my second product (first was this one) but it hasn't disappointed me yet.

There is a button at the top of the handle in which you can turn off and on.

The mascara, overall, was pretty good. It clumped the ends of my lashes a bit but it was very black, which I appreciate. It has a typical looking wand but it's smaller than some other wands I've seen, which works better in my opinion because it's less likely that you'll over-apply.

It also comes with a mirror on the side so you can see up close while you apply it. Now you don't have to worry about missing any part of your lashes or applying to much on one side. It IS easy for it to start clumping, I think, so I would suggest to be careful while using it. But I suppose this can apply to any mascara. It lengthens and provides volume but it lengthens more than it volumizes(?), does that make sense? Lol, I will let some of my pictures explain this as well.

And this is how it looks on me.. dun dun dun.
*Warning: I take very bad pictures of my eyes.

My normal lashes.

Curled.

Here's the process! It's not as scary as it looks, the light is not blinding!

Here is the end result (one coat). So as you can see, there is a little clumping here and there but it holds my curls nicely (it's quite difficult for me to find a mascara like this so this is pretty good).

In short: 3.8/5
