Review: Memoirs of a Kitty Palette

Hello! Hope everyone is well.
Today I want to do a brief review on the Memoirs of a Kitty palette. It isn't sold in Sephora anymore... I think (same idea here though). But it was $36 and I purchased mine back some time in July. I've used it for quite some time now so I think I can give a more accurate review now.

No matter how many times I look at it, I think it's so cute. I love the floral/pastel look of it and somehow I think "Memoirs of a Kitty" matches the palette very well. It also has a big mirror inside which I love.

Here's my general take on the Hello Kitty products sold at Sephora (then and now): The products are generally not that SUPER (compared to NARS/Too Faced/Urban Decay) but the packaging for Hello Kitty products are adorable. So is this palette worth $35? Maybe, maybe not. I personally would say yes because a) it comes with 4 eye shadows and 2 blushes. That's under $6 per product. The blushes come in a great size as well. And b) the packaging is adorable. I'm sorry but it is!

^This is the cover. Even the box this came with has the same design!

^I thought the bow was extra pretty. Sort of 3D!

^Contents.

The palette is divided into two levels. The first level contains the eye shadows, the second level contains the blushes.

^Level 1. I personally picked this palette because I can never have enough neutrals. #1 is a lovely highlight color, by the way. There definitely is fall out but nothing too excessive. #4 has the worst fall out but I've seen worse.

^Level 2. These are the blushes are these are still my FAVORITE blushes to date. I thought I would like #5 more (it's more peachy and less obvious) but it turned out that #6 looked better on me. I wear both of them though, I wear #6 first and I sort of blend everything out with #5.

^Swatches! It's a pretty frosty for the shadows and a bit shimmery (nothing too intense though) for the blushes.

No, these do not offer the highest of quality eye shadows. Yes, there are cheaper dupes of these colors. There is fall out and the blushes are better than the shadows in my opinion. But it is still good quality overall (and it is Hello Kitty) which should be noted. Would I buy one of these palettes again? I'm really not sure. For $35 I expect a teeny bit more from the eye shadows but if the blushes are the same quality and the eye shadows are colors I can work with, then why not? I believe Sephora is selling something similar right now but I'm not sure if I can work with all the eye shadows.

In short: 3.7/5

Here is a problem I had with all of the Hello Kitty products (or the ones I've come across, anyway). The shadows/blushes come in various colors but they don't have names! I wish they'd have names. Then I wouldn't have to number them from 1-6. Hah!

Are YOU a sucker for cute packaging? Confess!

Recent buys, FOTD, Updates

Hello hello hello! :) Hope everyone has been doing well!

A quick reminder that my one-year giveaway ends in SIX days. The month goes by so quickly, it's kind of scary. Make sure you have followed ALL of the rules. Go back and make sure you filled out all the mandatory fields!

I put up a new banner and my blog has a different color to it now. I know it looks so simple but it actually took a lot of time LOL. I don't know how some bloggers do it, with their fancy fancy fancy blogs! Totally envious, I'm pretty sure this is the best I got for now. I also changed my blog title to "sweetness of each day" because I want all of my days and yours to be filled with sweetness. I hope that my blog entries will be able to capture the sweetness of each of my days.

Enough of the sappy stuff LOL and onto the small haul. So as I stated in this post, I have been on a shopping ban for ~2 months. I was not able to not buy ANYTHING but I did not buy anything for myself that was over $20. In fact, I think the only thing I bought for myself that was ~$20 was the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Policy palette. So I didn't go cold turkey but I definitely was not spending $150 at Sephora! I'm really surprised at how well I did... really surprised.

Oh boo, this haul is boring :( And by "small", I meant really small.

Oh hello, horrid lighting not nice to see you again
I got this little bucket at Target for $1 :) It's about 4inches tall (without the handle) and I intend of keeping my brushes in it. The handle is a little crooked but all of them were kind of like that and I don't really mind.

Hello Kitty nail art stickers *HAPPY*. I'm going to do a NOTD soon using one of these. I think I'm going to use the lace stickers for nail tips but we'll see. These were $5 (EEEEEP) at Sephora. Goodness, really expensive for a small sheet of stickers. Why did I let myself do this?! But it's so cute... :( No more of these though. Hello Kitty ANYTHING is so expensive.

Lace eye mask from Target. Also $1. Not the best quality but it's good enough for me. Mostly because it's black and it's light. Because the quality isn't so great, the stretchy band thing isn't too tight, rather loose which I'll enjoy more.

On a random note, there is something new I want to try: Something like these...

Just kidding! But these are pretty crazy, huh? The one on the bottom is by Shu Umura (sp?) and I'm not sure about the top one. Neither are mine, credits to appropriate owners!
I want false lashes that are exactly opposite of the ones I showed, natural looking ones!
Some people argue that false lashes are the most fake things a woman can do to her face. Do you agree?

I also want to share a quick FOTD. I wish I would remember to actually sit down and take these, they never come out the way I want them to... although I don't think my real face justifies the picture at all LOL.

I had my hair pulled back into a messy bun hence... the bald looking head. But today, I liked my scarf and the way my eyeliner turned out.

I'm going to end this entry with...

AHH! 붕어빵! This is a Korean pastry that is in the shape of a goldfish and filled with red bean. It's sweet and fattening, all the things I love.

P.S. :I hate "disqus" or whatever the heck it's called. Why do so many of you guys use it :(

PERFUME.

[Don't forget to enter my one-year giveaway!]

Hey guys!

So today I want to talk about perfume. I love perfume but I'm very picky about it. It cannot be too flowery or too musky, and I prefer it to be fruity smelling. I know scents can smell different on certain people but I just really like the way fruity things smell on me!

The downside of perfume? The price. I have trouble justifying the price I have to pay for a full sized bottle of perfume. Some perfumes cost ~$50 for a 1.7 fl oz bottle! But I probably will never leave my house without spritzing something on. My goodness. I just can't.

I usually HATE perfumes from "higher end" brands (Gucci, Prada, Michael Kors (if you consider it higher end)) and the list goes on. I usually find them too strong or musky and I hate anything that smells like that.

I do have a few perfume samples and I actually DO use them. I know lots of people never use them but not I! I have a spare reusable roll-on thing I got from Sephora (I can pour in perfume into the tube, twist it shut and use it as a roll-on) so they usually do not go to waste.

These are a few of my perfume samples. The six perfumes I definitely want to try in the full size are also here.

Not in any order, here are the perfumes I definitely would buy if I had the chance:

1) Marc Jacobs - "Daisy"
2) Harajuku Lovers - "G"
3) Clinique - "Happy"
4) DKNY - "Be Delicious (Golden)"
5) Harajuku Lovers - "Lil' Angel" <- these are kind of harder to find nowadays.
6) Ralph Lauren - "Romance"

Have you guys tried any from my list? If so, what are your opinions? AND! What is your favorite perfume (if you have one)?

Pending.

Junk Food Game II going on! Check it out here

Unless it's going to be gifted, I will not be shopping at Sephora until 2012. For the past 3 months, I have shopped ~$50 each month and it's unacceptable (but in my defense, for two of those purchases I used 20% off & 10% off for the other one!...) Some serious self-discipline will be going on. I already passed up Black Friday shopping entirely and I really will not be shopping there till next February (unless it is going to be gifted, like I said before, which by the way, will still be blogged about ^_^).

But here it is. My last Sephora haul of 2011.

*Fairy Drops Mascara -> $24
*Kat Von D Lip gloss -> $5
*Tokidoki Lip gloss -> $5
*MUFE Aqua Eyes -> $18
*Sephora by OPI -> $5

total = $57 - 20% = ~$46
jeez no wonder I'm so poor. DUH. It's because I spent ~$150 at Sephora over 3 months -_-
I am banning shopping for myself all together until 2012. Just food and necessities. I'm on week 2 (3rd week now! :P), I'm doing pretty well I think.

Like last time, a follow up post regarding this purchase will be made!

Also, I am thinking of introducing my one-year giveaway very soon. As soon as the junk food game is over, I will be holding my one-year blog anniversary! I started my blog January 15th, 2010.

The junk food game is over/I will announce the prizes & winners on December 7th.

I will probably make my post regarding my giveaway the day after so around December 8 or 9th?

Haha, I don't know - look at me getting all ahead of myself! But I'm really excited to be holding my own giveaway soon! I know I don't have much followers but come on, this blog is the only blog I was able to maintain for a year!

P.S.
-5th post of November, oh yeah!

I'd rather be blogging anyway (Sephora Haul Reviews).

time-for-swatches-yes-it-is!
Hello, hello!
So I will be sharing some swatches from my previous post. I will be going over the Nars items, mainly.

I bought three eyeshadow duos, (2) Island Fevers and (1) Bysance. I also bought a nail polish in Bad Influence. The reason I got two of the Island Fevers is because I want to include one in my one-year anniversary give away that I'm slowly (but surely) putting together :) They were on sale for $10 (compared to the $33) each, and the polish was $7 (compared to $17, I think) so all in all, it was a good deal.

Overall, I LOVE the products. Love love love. You really do get what you pay for but I can't imagine paying $33 for 2 eyeshadows.. not with my current paycheck anyway!

Without further ado...

Nars Eyeshadow Duos in Island Fever and Bysance (left and right respectively)!

They come with full mirrors which I totally love. My ELF blush comes with a mirror that's really small and I always wonder how much I'm supposed to see with it...!

So personally, I like Island Fever much more because it's more suitable for daily uses than Bysance is.

With flash

Without flash

Island Fever consists of an almost pastel (but not as light) blue and a grey but not really silver colors. Once the colors blend together, it looks pretty neat. And as long as you use a light hand (they're pretty pigmented), I think these can work out as pretty casual colors.

Bysance on the other hand is quite.. loud. Loud in my book anyway, not in a bad way though! But I do think that Bysance is more pigmented than Island Fever.

With flash (natural lighting)

Without flash (natural lighting)

I think that the left color is more champagne-looking than golden on my skin. A little bit.. darker than champagne but not quite GOLDEN.
I haven't worn these colors out yet because they aren't as casual as Island Fever but I'm waiting for the opportunity to wear these colors out!

Flash swatches, no primer.

No flash swatches (artificial lighting), no primer.

OVERALL:
Pros:
-well pigmented
-it was on sale
-minimal fall out
-pretty colors :)

Cons:
-the packaging was a little "ehh.." because I ended up having to clean the edges as soon as I opened it.
-it's expensive if not on sale.

Rebuy? Maybe.

4/5!

Finally, we have my first Nars nail polish. I must say, I LOVE the color!! It's very fall/winter appropriate but I'd totally wear this color any other season. It's what I would describe as a "smokey brown" color but I guess other people can just see brown. But I'm just saying, again, that I would never buy this at retail price. Never. Yikes.. Even $7... is hard to justify I think.

Pretty neat packaging IMO. It's very tightly packed and has a cardboard thing on the inside for protection (all their products do, I think).

Pros:
-It was.. on sale
-A personally favorite color.
-Sleek packaging. It's nice to look at.

Cons:
-If it wasn't on sale, really expensive.
-It's hard to actually use because the top is so square!
-I have a very similar color from Sinful Colors that I got for $2.

Rebuy?: Probably not unless it's on sale again.

OVERALL:
3/5!

Hehe so that marks the end of that. I can't wait till my blog becomes a year old, it's coming up soon! Another day, ladies!

Where do I even begin?

Hello, hello.
:( this week has been treating me really badly... but I'm glad it's ending soon!
I am NEVER packing my schedule into three days ever again. I have way too many classes in one day for me to handle.
This is also why my posts have been lacking and I hate it because I really enjoy blogging! It takes my stress away :)

So, basically, this is what has been happening with my photos. I bought my new camera 10/25. But even before then, I've been taking pictures of things I wanted to blog about on my old Sony camera.

I've been taking photos but I've been delayed with editing and uploading so... I do not know where to begin with the photos. So I've decided to upload my four most recent purchases. Two from Sephora, one from Missha, and one from F21.

So starting with the Missha - they were giving away their BB creams for FREE to celebrate the launching of their new website. All you had to do was pay for shipping :) I got a mask as well because my mom wanted to try a collagen mask to see if she likes 'em. Total was $11. Ahh! So cheap!

I got #21 and I really like it! I don't know why I didn't like Missha so much before. Or maybe I like it more now because it was free?? Haha.

Bad photo, I know. I was being lazy :P

Next up is F21 GLITTER polishes! With flash / without flash.
From left to right: Teal, Magenta, Silver, Rust, Aqua
@$2.80 each.
They're okay. Nothing spectacular, I wasn't expecting much but I do think they're very pretty :) But I'm having a hard time adjusting to the smell...

Sephora #1 (Online):

Pick up 4 Nars products! Three are eyeshadow duos and they were $10 each. Regular price was $33 so I still spent less after buying THREE of them ($30) hehe. The last Nars product is a nail polish and the regular price was $17 but I got it for $7 I think.
Also picked up some nail stuff: hot pink glitter ($5) & dotting/marble tool ($7) & deep purple polish ($4)for free shipping lol.
I also became VIB last month and they had a VIB offer for a deluxe sample of Amore (comes with three items) so I got that for my mom :) And last but not least, my three free samples.
I will not be elaborating further for these products on THIS particular post. A "Recent Sephora Hauls Overview" entry is currently waiting to be published, so stay tuned!

Last but definitely not least, Sephora #2 (In-Store):
Another nail glitter! And a Mini Tweezerman tweezers featuring Harajuku lovers! It's so cuteee! And it's my FIRST Tweezerman tweezers and I am MADLY in love with them. They were pricey at $15 but SOOO worth it. I have pretty tiny hands and they just work so well with meee!

Also picked up the 500 point BI gift. I was saving and saving because I didn't like any of the other gifts they had but I really like Benefit overall so I went right for it!
The Dandelion blush is full sized (retails $28) and the primer and mascara are sample sizes (mascara size is pretty generous though, I think).

HUGE post - Collective Haul!

Hello, hello! Long time no blog, I'm not going to repeat that I am swamped in work. My midterms start next week and I am slowly but surely preparing for them... T_T
Also, I found out that I got an A for my summer class, a nice way to boost my GPA by 0.7 LOL.

So on to the (small) haul, shall we?
First, I'm going to start off with my rain boots. I had a pair I got for $15 but it was one of those things where I really "got what you paid for" and the front parts ripped within the first season I wore them (not to mention the overwhelming smell of rubber). Basically, rain/snow was getting into my boots if I stepped into a puddle and that really was not... working well for me. Drenched socks are no fun. So I got these Sperry Top-Sider ones in Navy/Yellow/Grey. So far, so good because it doesn't smell haha. But we'll have to see for sure. They were originally for $80-100 but I got them for $30. Pretty good deal I guess. Really loving the... nautical(?) feel I get from them lol :)

Next up is my small Bath and Body Works. It was buy 2 get 1 free and I really only wanted the Paris Amour shower gel (it smells like Juicy Couture's viva la juicy, I think) but the sales lady INSISTED I bought another one so I got the sweet pea shower gel/lotion combo. Classical scent from B&BW and I'm thinking of giving it to my co-worker as a Christmas gift.

And I was dying to get a new BB cream that was water based so I got the Lioele Water Drop BB cream. I think it was $18 + veeeery generous freebies from yeppeunsonyuh. If you're looking for cheap Korean/Asian brand make up or circle lens, she's your gal!

Some clothes I bought as well.

^Banana Republic, Size Small, $15. It's a size small but it's definitely meant to be off-shoulders. And the sleeves are a little long, but that's just how I like it. Oh, and those sparkles!! Love, love, love!
Extras:

Ann Taylor, Size Small, $13 - I know this looks like a typical shirt in picture but it's really not because the middle navy part is a little sheer! Not quite mesh but sheer.
Extra:

^Banana Republic, Size XS, $15 - I'm usually a small so I was pretty disappointed to find that they only had this in XS. But I tried it on and it fit! I got this mainly because I thought the front was so pretty, almost like curtains!
Extra:

And last but definitely not least - Sephora! Sorry for the blurry picture :(

Urban Decay The Revolution Eyelash Curler, 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner in Demolition, Laura Mercier Lipstick in "Belle".

Extra pictures for the UD Revolution Eyelash Curler :

Andddd the UD 24/7 eyeliner! It's really nice but I was expecting a slightly lighter shade of brown... it's pretty dark. I can't imagine how dark black would be!

And that is ALL!
So, what do you guys think of my damage? Haha. Especially the eyelash curler... let me know what you think!
